The Moscow Agency of Innovations signed a strategic partnership agreement in Seoul with the ‘Innobiz’ South Korean state association on the implementation of joint projects and exchange of experience, the official portal of the Moscow Mayor reports referring to the Deputy Mayor of the city Natalia Sergunina.
“Like our colleagues in the Republic of Korea, Moscow pays special attention to technological development and an ecosystem for innovators. Cooperation with the South Korean state association implies the exchange of experience and best practices, as well as joint programmes for small and medium-sized innovative companies,” Sergunina said.
It is planned that the developments of South Korean startups will be tested as part of the pilot testing of innovations in Moscow and graduates of the Moscow Accelerator project in the capital of Russia will take part in piloting and acceleration programmes in Seoul.
According to the Head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, Alexey Fursin, in less than two years of its existence, the Moscow Accelerator programme has attracted more than 4.5 thousand applications for participation from technology startups from various industries. Besides, he stated that the city’s pilot innovation testing programme for the period from May 2020 to today has given a chance to 1.5 thousand enterprises to test their developments.
It is noted that the South Korean association has a unique certification system, so every technology startup in the country that expects to receive state support must first contact the association to pass the certification.
“It is important for us to have a strategic partnership with Moscow, one of the most technologically advanced capitals in the world […] We would like to jointly focus on the implementation of such large-scale tasks as the formation of a global ecosystem focused on technology, job creation, and the development of innovative startups in our countries,” the Chairman of the ‘Innobiz’ Association said.
