To date in Russia, there are 14 million people involved in sports on their own. This is stated by the data of the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat). Among the students, the number of men and women is almost the same, RT reports.
The largest number of self-training citizens was recorded in Moscow, that is 758.5 thousand people. The second and third places were taken by Bashkiria and the Moscow region, which is 572.9 and 502.7 thousand people, respectively. The Sverdlovsk region and Tatarstan were among the five leaders.
Residents of the Nenets Autonomous District, Chukotka and the Magadan Region train independently most rarely. The statistics include Russian citizens involved in sports at home, in the yard, in parks, and recreational areas. The study was conducted in 2019 and concerns residents of all regions of the country aged 3 to 79 years.
