About 71 per cent of Russians surveyed believe that the main purpose of a woman is to be a mother and a good housewife, TASS reports with reference to the data provided by the NAFI analytical centre.
The survey involved residents of 46 regions and 150 settlements of the Russian Federation over the age of 14 years. According to the results, a third of respondents (mostly those who already have children) think that a woman should choose between career and family (1,811 respondents), 88 per cent of Russians believe that a man should provide financial support to his family, though 55 per cent of respondents, which is the majority of married Russians, think that the most important decisions in their families are made jointly by husband and wife.
