Specialists from the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VTsIOM) presented data from a survey of Russians about their attitude to the current country’s taxation system. It turned out that the majority of respondents (81 per cent) believe that taxes must be paid without fail and in full.
On the other hand, only 26 per cent of Russians would be willing to pay more taxes if they had the opportunity to influence their distribution (while 65 per cent of respondents are not ready to consider this possibility).
At the same time, the majority of Russians (83 per cent) believe that the richer a person, the greater the percentage of income he should give to the state as taxes. In turn, 13 per cent of respondents think that everyone should pay an equal percentage of taxes.
Also, more than half of Russians (54 per cent) are willing to pay high taxes if this allows them to provide support to the poor. On the other hand, almost a third of respondents (28 per cent) believe that taxes should be as low as possible so that everyone can manage their money in the best possible way.
