A vote on the modernization of the Moscow library system was launched on the Active Citizen portal, the official website of the Moscow Mayor reports. There are 400 libraries operating in Moscow today, and the programme for their renovation was launched in 2015.
It is specified that in five years, city libraries have become cultural centres, where people can not only read books, but also have business meetings, masterclasses, and lectures, as well as work in coworking spaces or listen to music. So, voters will be asked to rate these innovations. City residents have to answer whether it is worth continuing the library modernization programme or not. They also have a chance to tell what books they would like to see on library shelves.
