Uruguayan actress and singer, Natalia Oreiro, received a Russian passport at the Russian Embassy in the Argentine city of Buenos Aires together with her son. The documents were presented by the Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov. It is reported that the actress took the oath for Russian citizenship both in Russian and in Spanish.
“Thank you very much! I love you all very much in Russia,” she said.
The actress recalled that this happened after her joke on the ‘Evening Urgant’ TV show in March 2019. The presenter called her “the most Russian of foreign women,” and Oreiro noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin should give her citizenship.
Back in the summer of 2020, Oreiro notified the Russian embassy in Argentina that she was offered to get a Russian passport since she has many ties with Russia. Shortly after she had applied for citizenship. However, she stressed that she was not going to live in Russia.
