The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a law, according to which a new day of military glory is introduced in the country. Now, every year on October 9 all Russians will celebrate the Day of the defeat of Nazi troops by Soviet soldiers in the battle for the Caucasus in 1943, the official portal of legal information reports.
In the explanatory note to the law, it was reported that this battle had an important military-political and strategic importance during the entire Great Patriotic War, and it became the second-longest battle of those times after the 900-day defence of Leningrad.
