The Consulate General of Russia in Harbin announced the opening of a new railway freight route between Russia and China.
“In early October, the first freight train to Moscow from the Chinese city of Tieling passed through the Zabaikalsk — Manchuria railway checkpoint. 50 containers with export goods with a total value of about 77 million yuan were sent to our country on it,” the Telegram channel of the Russian diplomatic mission says.
As specified, the distance between the points of departure and destination is about seven and a half thousand kilometers, so the delivery on the new route will take 15 days.
The Consulate General recalled that from January to August, more than three thousand container trains passed through the Zabaikalsk — Manchuria checkpoint in both directions, which is almost 40 per cent more than a year earlier.
According to the Main Customs Administration of the People’s Republic of China, in the first eight months of this year, the trade turnover between Russia and China increased by 31.4 percent to $117.205 billion. In 2021, it reached a record 146.887 billion.
