In the centre of Moscow GUM (main department store), on the site of the fountain, under the huge festive tree, a New Year’s fair has been working these days. Snow-covered trees, the smell of fresh needles and sweet tangerines – the country’s main store is ready for the main holiday.
The design of the Main Department Store is dedicated to the anniversary of the favourite children’s program “Good night, kids!”, which turned 55 this year. Heroes familiar to every Russian since childhood: Khryusha, Stepashka, Filya turned into brave astronauts – after all, space became the second theme of the festive decoration.
According to the good old tradition, on New Year’s Eve, friends and partners take part in the New Year’s decoration of GUM. They decorate the designer Christmas trees with New Year decorations in the style of their brand.
The main GUM tree, decorated with dolls from “Good night, kids!” and space rockets is traditionally installed in the very center of the store. Here in full swing is the New Year’s market, which presents a huge selection of holiday decorations and gifts. And, of course, at the fair you will find the symbol of the coming year – Rats.
