Nizhny Novgorod engineers and doctors have developed titanium implants that will help in the treatment of diseases of the spine, NewsNN reported with reference to the medical news agency “Stationar-Press”. Titanium implants allow fixing the spine in case of severe injuries, and the new development will allow abandoning the purchase of imported materials.
It is noted that the prosthesis was created by doctors from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University and the VipTechnology enterprise. The industrial part was handled by the Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant. It is also specified that already tomorrow, on September 2, surgeons will perform three experimental surgeries that will install titanium systems in miniature pigs. After the operation, doctors will monitor the animals for three months.
