In the coming year, the Nizhny Novgorod Region will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Andrey Sakharov. More than 95 million rubles will be spent for these purposes, according to the press service of the regional government with reference to the Minister of Culture of the region Oleg Berkovich.

It is noted that the celebration programme has already been approved. One of the main events will be the 16th Sakharov International Festival of Arts. It will take place from May 21 to June 2, 2021, at the Rostropovich Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Philharmonic. The festival will bring together a multimedia show, creative meetings and masterclasses.
It is specified that the event will be attended by the playwright Edvard Radzinsky, the classical pianist Denis Matsuev, the pianist Boris Berezovsky, the violinist and conductor Sergey Krylov, the Yurlov Capella Choir, the Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra and many others. The festival will take place in the renovated Kremlin Philharmonic Concert Hall.
