In January 2020, in Nizhny Novgorod, the record for maximum air temperature was +4.7°. The previous one was installed in January 2007 (+3.8°). This was reported on the website of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation.
The biggest deviations from the norm were recorded in the southeast of Siberia and in the north of the Volga region. There, in the daytime, the thermometer columns reach zero, which is unusual for early January.
This weather situation will continue throughout Russia at least until the end of the first decade of the current month, according to the Hydrometeorological Center. The largest daily average temperature anomaly is expected in Siberia and in the west of Yakutia.
