The team of schoolchildren and students of the Volga Medical University “Cult of Life” won the competition of the initiative “Personnel of the Future for the Region. The Nizhny Novgorod Region”, Stacionar.press reports.
Students from Nizhny Novgorod have developed a 3D prosthetics technology that will allow creating personal prostheses for the lower extremities. Thus, the invention will significantly improve the lives of people with special needs.
It is noted that they first performed 3D scanning of the patient’s stump, after which they created a computer model of the cult-applied sleeve. Then they printed its prototype on a printer. Subsequently, the sleeve is made of polyurethane foam. Such a prosthesis will improve the gait biomechanics of patients. It is specified that this development has no full analogues in the world.
