The volume of non-resource non-energy exports in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2020 increased by 15 per cent compared to 2019 and amounted to $3.93 billion, according to the Governor of the region Gleb Nikitin.
In terms of indicators, the region rose to 1st place in the Volga Federal District (VFD) and took 10th place in the rating of the subjects of the Russian Federation. At the same time, in terms of the total volume of foreign trade turnover, the region ranks 2nd in the VFD and 15th among the regions of Russia.
It is noted that Nizhny Novgorod equipment for nuclear power plants, electric motors and generators, printing products, as well as seamless steel pipes are the basis for the supply of non-energy export goods. In addition, the region’s vegetable oils, pharmaceutical and chemical products are supplied to various countries of the world. The five main sales markets include Bangladesh, Belarus, India, China, and Kazakhstan.
Due to the pandemic in the Nizhny Novgorod region, there was a decrease in foreign trade turnover, but at the same time, exports still remained at the level of 2019 and amounted to $4.9 billion. It is specified that in 2019, the Russian Export Centre, as part of the international cooperation and export national project, supported local exporters by more than $1.3 billion.
