Novosibirsk Girls Won Russian Powerlifting Championship

The women’s team of the Novosibirsk region won the national powerlifting championship for the third time in a row. Athletes took seventeen medals home from Yekaterinburg where the competitions were held, VN.ru reports.

On the first day of the competition, Evgenia Chistik from Siberia won gold, collecting a total of 410 kg in a triathlon (squat 167.5, bench press 80, and deadlift 162.5 kg). At the same time, the athlete’s own weight was less than 47 kg.

Another gold medal was won by Lidia Zayats. In the 72 kg class, she lifted 612.5 kg (squat 240, bench press 157.5, and deadlift 215 kg). Valentina Vermenyuk became the third in the 52 kg weight category, having collected the amount of 470 kg. Anna Kukhareva took second place in the absolute weight category among women (620 kg). In addition, Russian girls won six more gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.

In addition, the head coach of the team, Sergey Fedosienko, himself at this championship has proved his 25th champion’s title in a row. The Honoured Master of Sports of Russia from Novosibirsk coped with the total amount of 745 kg.
