Envelopes with St. George ribbons were handed out to Novosibirsk residents in the city centre on Teatralnaya Square. Volunteers suggest that citizens keep the ribbons in envelopes after the Victory Day celebrations even after the holiday. They also urge city residents to wear ribbons only on their chests near their hearts and not tie them to bags or hair.

“On the one hand, the action seems simple and easy, but I believe that we should not forget about the past that we had. This is our history, and without history, there is no future. This is a symbol of Victory, and we must treat it with care,” the regional coordinator of the All-Russian public movement ‘Victory Volunteers’,” Vera Podturkina, said.

It is specified that the main distribution points for St. George ribbons are Teatralnaya Square near the Opera Theatre, Mikhailovskaya Embankment, Pervomaiskaya Square, Stanislavsky Street, as well as educational institutions of Novosibirsk. In total, it is planned to hand out 80 thousand ribbons around the region until May 9.
