Novosibirsk Residents Started to Use Internet Services More Often

In September 2020, Novosibirsk residents increased the number of calls to digital services by one and a half times compared to the same period last year, reports with reference to the MTS mobile network operator. At the top of Internet requests are food delivery, games, shopping, and online cinemas.  

The general index of digital activity in Novosibirsk, which is formed on the basis of anonymized Big Data, by the beginning of October 2020 is 7 points out of 10. It is noted that the data concerns the traffic by mobile subscribers sites and applications, both federal and regional, of the following categories: social networks, messengers, online cinemas, streaming video services, banking sites, applications, resources for obtaining government services, educational platforms, video conferencing and services for remote work, online stores, food delivery services, telemedicine services, e-sports, and gaming platforms.

It is specified that city residents use the service of online cinemas in September 2020 3.2 times more often than in September 2019, and “went” to online stores 241 per cent more often than in the same period of 2019. Also, at the end of September 2020, the number of calls to gaming resources doubled compared to September 2019.

As for the food delivery services, in September 2020 they were used 1.5 times more often compared to 2019. The number of calls to telemedicine services for consultations with doctors increased more than 1.3 times; the number of requests to platforms for video conferencing and remote work increased by 25 per cent in comparison to the same period in 2019; educational platforms in their turn showed 10 per cent increase.
