Over a thousand Moscow couples are going to get married today, on a “beautiful date” of August 8, which is “two eights”, Moscow city news agency reported with reference to the press service of the Moscow Social Development Complex.
According to the head of the Moscow civil registry office management, Svetlana Ukhaneva, August is considered to be one of the most popular months for weddings. She specified that this year, about 11,000 couples living in the Russian capital applied for marriage registration this month. In 2020, on August 8, it is planned to register more than 1,000 couples in Moscow. Ukhaneva stated that this is about 10 per cent of the total number of applications submitted for August.
