About 2.7 million people took part in the New Year festivities in the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on January 1.
According to him, out of a total of approximately 1.1 million citizens walked along Tverskaya Street and other central parts of the city. Another 370 thousand celebrated in the districts and 1.2 million celebrated the New Year in the parks.
“2.7 million people took part in the New Year festivities in the capital,” the mayor summed up on his personal page on Instagram.
He added that during this time 600 masterclasses, over 1.8 thousand theatre and concert productions took place in Moscow. More than 38 thousand people had fun on the merry-go-round, and more than 14 thousand citizens went to the ice rinks.
In addition, guests and residents of the capital during the celebration drank more than eight thousand litres of hot drinks and ate 11 thousand sausages.
