Over 2,200 Soldiers Took Part in Samara Victory Parade

The Victory Parade with the participation of more than 2.2 thousand soldiers and 50 pieces of equipment was held on Kuibyshev Square in Samara, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the Central Military District.

“We are rightfully proud of the contribution that the inhabitants of our region made to the defeat of the hated enemy. Half a million of our fellow countrymen went to war, almost every second did not return from the fronts. 233 people were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for their exploits, 36 became full holders of the Order of Glory,” the Head of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, said.

It is noted that the column of the solemn parade was traditionally led by a T-34 tank, followed by military equipment: Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems, T-72B3 tanks, S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, and modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles. For the first time at the parade in Samara, the Typhoon-K armoured vehicle was presented. In addition, Mi-2 helicopters, supersonic fighter-interceptors MiG-31 and supersonic fighter-bombers Su-34 flew in the sky.
