In 2020, 27.4 billion rubles were allocated for social support in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The Governor of the region, Gleb Nikitin, explained that part of the money went to payments to families with children aged three to seven years. Thus, more than 55 thousand families received over 3.7 billion rubles a year.
Nikitin also stated that in 2020, the region, among 21 pilot subjects of the Russian Federation, began to implement a project aimed at reducing the level of poverty. Thus, funding for activities to conclude a social contract amounted to 1.78 billion rubles, taking into account regional funds. The Governor noted that the region is leading in the support of the population in the field of poverty reduction. According to him, the social contract helped to solve the problems of thousands of residents of the region. For the current year, more than 2 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes.
