More than three thousand animals were taken from Moscow shelters in 2020, according to RIA News with a reference to the press service of the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the city.
In total, there are 13 municipal animal shelters in the capital. They contain about 17 thousand dogs and cats. It is clarified that almost 2.5 thousand dogs and 758 cats were taken from city animal shelters in 2020, while more than 380 animals found owners during the period of self-isolation.
It is noted that volunteers are involved in finding homes for pets. About three thousand volunteers regularly visit nurseries and help animals to socialize in order to find them new families. It is also stated that thanks to the work of volunteers over the past 10 years, about 26 thousand animals were given to good people.
