Over 4,000 Elderly People in Moscow Region Took Digital Literacy Courses

About 4.5 thousand participants of the “Active Longevity” programme in the Moscow Region have taken digital literacy courses since the beginning of the year, TASS reports with reference to the Deputy Minister of Social Development of the Moscow Region Andrey Kiryukhin. 

Kiryukhin clarified that they teach local residents how to report meter readings, pay for services, or apply for housing and communal services subsidies electronically. This service has appeared recently, in contrast to the “Computer Literacy” courses in which 4.5 thousand people have already taken part this year. According to the specialist’s forecast, by the end of 2021, more than 10 thousand retirees will take part in the courses.

It is noted that the “Active Longevity” programme was launched in the Moscow region in 2019. Since September 2020, due to the pandemic, the programme has switched to an online format, and since February 12 of this year, it has returned to full-time format. During this time, 15 thousand people have already taken part in it.
