The majority of Russians (60 per cent) prefer watching Russian films to foreign ones, which follows from the data of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VTsIOM), TASS reports.
In addition, 23 per cent of respondents said that the quality of Russian cinema has improved over the past few years, although about 44 per cent of respondents did not notice any significant changes.
According to the results of the survey, the top countries or regions producing films included the United States/Hollywood (36 per cent) and European countries (26 per cent), while 12 per cent of respondents prefer Soviet films.
It is specified that respondents aged from 35 to 59 years (66-68 per cent), as well as female participants of the study (66 per cent) like domestic cinema more than others. Preference for American cinema is more often expressed by men (43 per cent) and young people aged 18 to 24 years (77 per cent).
