Passenger Traffic at Novosibirsk Airport Increased by Over 45%

Passenger traffic of the largest transit hub beyond the Urals, Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport, increased by more than 45 per cent compared to 2020, up to 6.7 million people. The growth is associated with an increase in the flight programme of the base carrier S7 Airlines. 

Tolmachevo International Airport is the largest transit air hub beyond the Urals, with a capacity of 1.8 thousand passengers per hour on domestic airlines and 1.3 thousand on international ones.

By the end of 2021, more than 6.7 million passengers were served at Tolmachevo Airport. The number of passengers on domestic airlines increased by 23.3 per cent compared to 2019 and amounted to more than 6 million people. In addition, more than 2 million transfer passengers were served at the airport, their share in the total passenger traffic was 30 per cent.

In total, over the past year, more than 36 thousand flights were serviced at Tolmachevo Airport (plus 8.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2019). Cargo traffic amounted to 35.1 thousand tonnes (plus 2.9 per cent compared to the previous year), which is a record value and exceeds the figures of previous years.

According to the airport development programme, including to increase the capacity of the air hub, a project for the reconstruction of the airport complex is being implemented now. The new terminal with an area of 56 thousand square metres is planned to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2022.
