The only one in Russia film festival behind barbed wire was held in Chelyabinsk. The films were shot by convicts and employees of penal colonies.
The directors and actors of the films who were transported from 34 regions. In the fourth women’s colony, which hosts the festival, they are not only constantly making films, they have their own cable television. Releases come out every month. Culinary masterclasses are also held. It is a reality, that is, preparation for life after release.
In the jury was the senator of the Federation Council, well-known social activists. Here the new Commissioner for Human Rights in the Southern Urals took a welcoming speech. Special guest was a former Minister of Sports of the Chelyabinsk region.
Among the finalists of this year are films about Perm hermits, Yakut prisoners and a touching story about Chelyabinsk HIV-infected children born behind barbed wire.
The scriptwriter and director of the film, the prisoner of the fourth colony, Inga Shatskaya, is now serving time for drug possession. As a result, her film “We live with it” won the festival’s Grand Prix.
Next year, to welcome everyone, they want to give the festival all-Russian status.
