Russian quality control (Roskachestvo) experts have launched the preparation of an analytical report on the state of the wine market in the country.
For the report, the experts used the data from retail chains, the Federal Customs Service, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Federal Alcohol Regulation, and the Roskachestvo Consumer Behaviour Assessment Centre. During the analysis, the experts noted the trend of Russians to reduce the consumption of strong alcohol in favour of wine.
In particular, in the first 3 months of 2020, a 5.7 per cent increase in wine sales was recorded compared to the same period in 2019. The sales of wine over the same period decreased by 16.39 per cent. However, it is noted that the sale of wine grew at a faster pace than other categories of alcohol during the quarantine.
