In 2020, four Moscow underwater gas pipelines were reconstructed, they are Danilovsky, Novodevichy, Khimkinsky and Tushinsky, reports VM.RU. According to Petr Biryukov, deputy mayor of Moscow on Housing and Communal Services, it is necessary to improve the security of the city’s gas distribution network.
During the works on pipelines, consumers will not be disconnected from the gas supply. The plants will receive modern automated gas pollution control systems. The data will be sent to the central dispatching department of JSC MosGaz. If problems occur, the gas supply will stop in less than two minutes.
The reconstruction of underwater gas pipelines will last two years. According to Biryukov, its implementation will ensure more than 40 years of uninterrupted and safe operation of underwater gas pipelines. Most of the work will be carried out by the trenchless method of microtunneling. In other areas, the method of horizontal directional drilling will be used.
