Rostec Showed Newest Transport Aircraft Flight [Video]

The state corporation “Rostec” has published a video of the second test flight of the newest military transport aircraft Il-112V which took place on March 30 from the airfield of the Voronezh aircraft building enterprise, TASS reports with reference to the press service of the corporation.  

As the press service of Rostec clarified, the plane was piloted by a crew consisting of chief pilot, 1st class test pilot, Hero of Russia Nikolai Kuimov, 1st class test pilot Dmitry Komarov, and 1st class test flight engineer Nikolai Khludeev. It is clarified that the flight lasted about 30 minutes and went in the normal mode.

It is noted that the Il-112V is the first military transport aircraft developed in Russia from scratch in the post-Soviet period. The first time when the Il-112V aircraft took off was on March 30, 2019. In the future, the aircraft will be capable of carrying up to 5 tonnes of cargo and is designed to transport soldiers, military equipment and weapons. The machine is being created to replace the turboprop An-26 and An-24; its serial production is planned for 2023.
