Russia Accused Germany of Increasing Tension in Europe Giving Nuclear Deterrence Statements

The German military attache in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Defence Ministry, where he was handed a note and told that the statements about Russia’s nuclear deterrence by the German Defence Minister provoke tension in Europe.  

On October 21, in an interview with the Deutschlandfunk radio station, the German Defence Minister, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, made the statement that NATO, if necessary, is ready to use military means, including atomic weapons, to deter Russia.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, a note was passed during the meeting emphasizing that the statements of Kramp-Karrenbauer on Russia’s nuclear deterrence provoke increased tensions in Europe.
