The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine cannot be settled by military methods, so all attempts to solve this problem by force will have the saddest and most unpredictable consequences.
“I would like to remind you once again that the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine has no military solution, it is recorded by all those countries that care so much about civilians and, in principle, about the situation in Ukraine. Attempts to settle it by force will have the saddest, sometimes unpredictable, but generally tragic consequences,” Zakharova warned.
According to her, the continuous supplies of arms and ammunition to Ukraine by Western countries strengthen Kiev’s confidence in the possibility of a military solution to the conflict in Donbass.
“We call on the Western capitals that are pumping Ukraine with weapons – first of all, Washington, but also Berlin and Paris – as participants in the Normandy format to stop encouraging the militarization of the country and use their influence to return Kiev to the path of achieving lasting peace in the Donbass by political and diplomatic means,” Maria said.
She also stressed that the Ukrainian security forces are deliberately violating additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire.
“It seems that Kiev is deliberately leading negotiations in the contact group to an impasse in order to simply untie its hands for the return of Donbass by military means,” Zakharova concluded.
As reminded, on October 27, the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured the village located in the grey zone in the south of the demarcation line between the territory controlled by Ukraine and the DPR. A day earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the first use of the Bayraktar strike drone (received from Turkey) in the Donbass, although, the parties to the conflict are prohibited from using drones near the contact line.
