In May 2020, the Russian Federation regained second place in the world’s rating in terms of oil production, which it lost a month earlier, RIA News reports with reference to the data provided by the Russian Department of Energy, the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy, and the OPEC report.
According to the Russian Energy Ministry, the country produced 39.74 million tons of oil in May 2020, which is equivalent to approximately 9.4 million barrels per day. It is noted that until July 2018, Russia was the world’s leader in oil production. Later, in August, Russia lost its place to the United States of America, which since that time occupied the first line. After that, Russia ranked second, and Saudi Arabia, the third one.
