Russia and Egypt Started Naval Phase of Joint Military Exercises [Video]

Yesterday, on December 6, in the Mediterranean Sea, the crews of the Russian and Egyptian Navies have started the three-day naval phase of the “Bridge of Friendship 2021” joint naval exercise.

The objectives of the exercise are to strengthen and develop military cooperation between the Russian and Egyptian Navies in the interests of security and stability in the region.

The squadron of ships of the Russian Navy includes the frigate Admiral Grigorovich with a Ka-27PS helicopter onboard, the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev and the rescue tug SB-742. A detachment of Egyptian Navy ships is represented by a frigate, 2 corvettes, and a support vessel.

During the naval phase of the exercise taking place in the area of the Gulf of Alexandria, the crews of the ships of the two countries carry out a set of joint actions to assist a ship in distress, to guide ships behind trawls, to repel attacks by surface means, to organize resupply at sea and to conduct inspection operations against suspicious vessels.

In addition, the crews will perform joint artillery firing on surface and air targets, as well as targets simulating floating mines.

It is specified that the detachments of Russian and Egyptian warships operate according to a single plan under the general guidance of the joint headquarters. From the Russian Navy, the headquarters is headed by Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov.
