The Russian Energy Minister, Nikolai Shulginov, held a meeting with the Japanese Minister of Trade, Economy, and Industry, Hiroshi Kajiyama, at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), following which they signed a statement of intent on cooperation in the field of sustainable energy, TASS reports. Also, the Ministers discussed few other issues of bilateral cooperation.

It is specified that the document signed is aimed at bilateral cooperation in the supply of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and condensate, the development of renewable energy sources, the production of hydrogen, gas chemistry products, as well as in the field of CO2 capture and storage.
Besides, it was mentioned that both ministers head the Russian-Japanese Energy Advisory Council, as part of which a working group on cooperation in the field of hydrogen, fuel ammonia, and carbon processing will appear.
Also, Shulginov invited the Japanese delegation to take part in the Russian Energy Week International Forum, which will be held on October 13-16 in Moscow, and in the World Energy Congress, which will be held in October 2022 in St. Petersburg.
Earlier, it was announced that the VI Eastern Economic Forum has been opened in the capital of Primorye, Vladivostok. It was already in August that representatives from 51 countries have confirmed their participation in the event.
