Russia overtook Mexico and became the second-largest exporter of oil and oil products to the United States, Forbes.ru reports. According to the data provided by the US Energy Information Administration, in May of this year, Russia set a record for the volume of energy resources sent for the entire period of supply.
According to the statistics presented, Russia supplied 26.17 million barrels of oil to the United States in May 2021, or 844,000 barrels per day, which is a record monthly result for Russia, as shown by supply statistics since 1995. The previous maximum was in May 2009 (25.08 million barrels per month). Daily deliveries increased by 22.67 per cent compared to April 2021.
It is noted that in this way Russia displaced from the second place Mexico that sold to the United States in May a total of almost 22.56 million barrels of oil (728,000 barrels per day). Only Canada exported more than Russia to the United States in May 2021 (125.75 million barrels or 4.06 million barrels per day).
In addition, experts noticed a rapid increase in imports of Russian raw materials to the United States. Thus, according to the US Census Bureau, the export of Russian mineral fuel, oil and petroleum products to the United States for the period from January to May 2021 was 78 per cent more than in the same period of 2020 ($3.8 billion).
