Due to the acute shortage of automotive components, the production lines at AVTOVAZ went idle from time to time, starting at the beginning of March. In May, there was also stagnation. The company reported on the goal to establish the production of import-substituted versions of Lada with a minimum content of foreign components.

On May 24, the general director of the company, Maxim Sokolov, at a meeting with the staff of the Togliatti automobile plant said that AvtoVAZ is likely to launch production of cars in early June. Sokolov stressed that one of the main tasks of the company is to preserve its team.

As reminded, on June 3, AvtoVAZ announced the resumption of production of Lada Granta cars at the Togliatti plant (from June 8). The company stressed that AvtoVAZ has already resumed the work of other divisions, including the production of engines, chassis, stamping production, logistics, which ensure the production of Lada Granta.

The first model with ABS from the Chinese company Trinova is expected to be Lada Largus. Due to another outbreak of coronavirus infection in China, the supply of components was delayed, which led to the postponement of the release of the first updated car models scheduled for the end of June 2022.

After importing ABS in Russia, Lada Granta and Lada Niva will immediately begin to be produced. As specified, UAZ has not certified models with Chinese ABS yet. Now, only the “Bukhanka” (“bread loaf”) model without an anti-lock system is being recertified.
