Tour operators, with the support of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), ensured the return from abroad of more than 80 per cent of organized Russian tourists, which was reported on March 16 by the press service of the agency.
Russians abroad faced blocking of bank cards, delay and cancellation of flights. However, so far about 75 thousand people returned to their homeland.
“Only in the last day it was possible to ensure the export of more than 1.5 thousand organized tourists. Tour operators return tourists home either by special charter flights or by regular connecting flights through third countries,” the Federal Tourism Agency reported.
According to the agency, most of the organized tourists from Russia are in Egypt, some are in Turkey, the UAE and the Dominican Republic, as well as in Vietnam and Thailand. Currently, charter flights from the above-mentioned countries are being coordinated.
It is reminded that difficulties with flights abroad for Russian airlines arose against the background of the risks of arrest of their aircraft due to EU sanctions. The decision of the EU countries to close the skies for Russia was a response to the operation conducted by Moscow to protect Donbass.
For Russians who find themselves in a foreign country and cannot fly home, the Federal Air Transport Agency organizes export flights. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you should register in the “Foreign Assistant” application or call the Rostourism hotline: 8 (800) 200-34-11.
