The sales of Chinese cars continue to grow in Russia. Thus, in January 2021, they grew by 52 per cent, in February, by 93 per cent, and in March, by 87 per cent, the Autostat analytical agency reports. So, 8,180 new cars of Chinese brands were sold in the country in March.
Taking into account the fact that the entire Russian market in March showed a drop (-6 per cent), the share of Chinese cars on it almost doubled, from 2.8 per cent (in March 2020) to 5.5 per cent (in March 2021). The most popular Chinese brand in Russia at the end of March was Haval, which managed to enter the top 10 brands on the market as a whole (2,833 cars, which is 77 per cent more than a year ago). Chery is in second place (2,398 cars, almost 3 times more). Geely closes the first three leaders (1,732 cars sold, +85 per cent).
Sales of cars of other Chinese brands are as follows: Changan (485 cars), Cheryexeed (309 cars), FAW (240 cars), Lifan (76 cars), GAC (68 cars), Brilliance (22 cars), Foton (11 cars), Zotye (6 cars). If we consider the results of the Q1 as a whole, then during this period almost 19 thousand new cars representing the PRC were sold in the country, which is 79 per cent higher than in January-March 2020.
