Moscow will strike to defeat the decision-making centers if Kiev uses the weapons received from the US against the territories of Russia, as stated by the Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, in an interview with the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera.
“If these types of weapons are used against Russian territories, the armed forces of our country will have no choice but to act to defeat the decision-making centers,” he said.
The Deputy Head of the Security Council clarified that by such centers he means, for example, the Ministry of Defense or the General Staff.
“But you need to understand that the final decision-making centers in this case, unfortunately, are not even on the territory of Kiev. Therefore, this is certainly a threat that will need to be taken into account,” Medvedev said.
According to him, Moscow noticed the change in Washington’s position on the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
“At first, president Biden said that they would not supply multiple launch rocket systems, MLRS, especially of advanced range. And then this position was adjusted, and it was announced that, in any case, certain types, such as HIMARS, will be delivered,” Medvedev stressed.
And although, according to him, these MLRS “do not have such a long area of destruction, not such a range as some other systems, but it still poses an obvious threat” to Russia.
“The Americans stipulate that these systems will be used only on the territory of Ukraine, but for obvious reasons they do not control those decisions to the end, in any case, which are applied and accepted by the Ukrainian authorities. Therefore, this is certainly a threat, we must respond to this threat,” Medvedev concluded.
