Russia should provide assistance to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics in the form of supplies of certain types of weapons to increase their defence capability in the face of possible aggression, according to the First Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Andrey Turchak.

“I believe that in these conditions, Russia should provide the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics with the necessary assistance in the form of supplies of certain types of weapons to increase their defence capability and deter Kiev’s clearly preparing military aggression,” Turchak said.
According to the official, United Russia is extremely concerned about “pumping Ukraine with Western lethal weapons.”
“Almost all the leading NATO countries are doing this, and they are doing it on a very large scale. Imagine: dozens of flights to Ukraine have been made only this year and only from the USA and the UK. Missile systems, grenade launchers, small arms, mines, ammunition and much, much more,” the Secretary of the United Russia General Council noted.
He also stressed that the NATO countries “do not deny themselves that they are doing this.”
“Moreover, under this sign language, so-called ‘instructors’, regular NATO military personnel arrive in Ukraine in large numbers. Among other purposes, they are preparing various military units of Ukraine to conduct combat operations in urban conditions. At the same time, the number of attacks in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions has increased significantly, civilians are dying, and at this time Western curators are pushing the Ukrainian junta to directly invade the Donbass, arming the national security forces, for whom the heroes are Bandera and Hitler, and the swastika is their respected sign,” Turchak concluded.
When asked about the possibility of sending weapons to the two republics, the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that Moscow proceeds from the fact that the West must ensure Ukraine’s implementation of the Minsk agreements, Izvestia reports.
“We are supporters of the unconditional implementation of the Minsk agreements, which Ukraine is currently sabotaging,” he stressed during a speech in the State Duma, commenting on the Turchak’s statement.
The Minister recalled the promises of Western partners to ensure Kiev’s implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“The Western curators of the Ukrainian regime assured us (including the Americans, by the way, at Putin’s meeting with Biden in Geneva in June) that they would ensure Kiev’s fulfilment of its obligations under the package of measures that was signed in Minsk in 2015. First of all, with regard to the special status of Donbass,” the Minister reminded.
According to Lavrov, the Russian government proceeds from the fact that this obligation lies with the West, which must ensure Kiev’s implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“Then all questions will disappear,” Lavrov concluded.
