Russia strongly condemns the airstrikes carried out by Israel on July 2 on targets in Syria and demands their cessation, as stated in the comments of the official representative of the country’s Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, published on Monday, July 4, on the Ministry’s official website.
“We emphasize once again that the ongoing Israeli strikes on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) are categorically unacceptable. We strongly condemn such irresponsible actions that violate the sovereignty of Syria and the basic norms of international law, and demand their unconditional cessation,” the commentary says.
As specified, on July 2, Israeli warplanes fired several rockets at targets in the Syrian province of Tartus. As a result of the air raid, two civilians were injured and serious damage was caused to civilian infrastructure.

It is noted that Israel has staged hundreds of strikes on targets in Syria over the years, but rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations. Israel has said in the past that it targets bases of Iran-allied militias that have fighters deployed in Syria, but Syria usually says, in turn, that targets of Israeli strikes are non-military.
According to the Syria’s “SANA” news agency, ‘poultry farms’ were targeted in the last airstrike, and two civilians were hurt. Video footage broadcast by SANA showed rubble at the targeted facility.
