Specialists of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) found banned components in Chinese food products, which caused the decision to suspend the import of these goods.
As specified by the press service of the federal experts’ agency, the import of Chinese freeze-dried noodles, corn chips, corn noodles, eggs with chocolate cream dessert, cookies with a surprise toy inside has been suspended. In these products, DNA of genetically modified corn and DNA of genetically modified soybeans were found in the amount of more than 0.9 per cent. In some samples, their content is exceeded by five times. In addition, there is no mention of the presence of these components on the product labelling.
The Russian side regularly discusses such issues with representatives of the supplier countries. In September, the federal service found a brown wrinkling virus in Turkish tomatoes again, which causes vegetables to rot. In December 2020, due to a similar situation, the agency imposed restrictions on the supply of tomatoes and peppers from Antalya and Izmir, which were lifted only by the autumn of this year. Brown moniliose rot was also found in nectarines, peaches and plums from Serbia, as well as from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia.
