Russian Athlete Won Individual Race at World Cup Pre-Olympic Stage

Russian biathlete Anton Babikov won the individual race at the seventh stage of the World Cup in the Italian Antholz. The athlete, who is included in the Russian national team for the Olympic Games in Beijing as a reserve, worked without misses on all four firing lines. He covered the distance of 20 kilometres in 49 minutes 46.8 seconds.

The second place was taken by Norwegian Tarjei Bo (two misses; +9.7 seconds), the third was another Russian, Karim Khalili (one miss; +48.5 seconds), for whom this is the first personal podium in the World Cup in his career.

As specified, this victory was Babikov’s second at the World Cup stages, before that he won in the 2016/17 season in the pursuit race in the Swedish Ostersund. In total, this is the third podium in the career of the Russian biathlete.
