Roman Abramovich’s new plane will become the most expensive Russian private jet to date. The estimated cost of the new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner business jet is $350 million. On December 18, it already flew from Switzerland to Vnukovo Airport, where private aviation is serviced.
The main owner of the Millhouse investment company, Roman Abramovich, acquired a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. All airlines in the world have only 250 such aircraft, in Russia, there are none at all. For personal needs, such huge planes are used very rarely. The exact Dreamliner that Abramovich bought was built in June 2015 for the private Swiss airline operator Privateair, but it was never transferred to it. In 2019, it got the equipment requested by the Russian billionaire.
As specified, the plane will be able to carry up to 50 passengers: 10 seats are provided for security, 10 for staff, and 30 for guests. The flight range of the Dreamliner is 18,418 km, the cabin area is 224.4 sq.m. The operator is Global Jet Concept.
It is assumed that the catalogue value of this model is $248.3 million and its additional equipment will cost the billionaire at least $ 100 million more. At the same time, the specific cost of finishing and equipping the aircraft can be much higher, as, for example, an anti-missile system was installed on Abramovich’s previous aircraft. Now the old plane is for sale at a cost of about $100 million.
“The Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 models belong to the very VIP category; they are really huge cars with fantastic interiors. Boeing and Airbus produce no more than two or three such business jets a year,” the project manager at BizavNews, Dmitry Petrochenko, says.
The expert added that the useful area of the aircraft is such that you can recreate the interior of your yacht or even a country house there.
