Russian Central Bank Issued Coins Dedicated to First Manned Space Flight Anniversary [Video]

Sixty years ago, on April 12, 1961, the Vostok-1 spacecraft with Yuri Gagarin on board was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome into low-earth orbit. And yesterday, on March 31, 2021, the Bank of Russia issued commemorative coins dedicated to this event, according to the press service of the Central Bank of Russia.  

It is specified that silver coins with a denomination of 25 rubles (the mass of the precious metal in purity is 155.5 g, the fineness of the alloy is 925) have the shape of a circle with a diameter of 60.0 mm. The coin is made in “proof” quality. The coin’s circulation is 1 thousand pieces (circulation of base metal coins are much above). It is noted that the issued coins are legal means of cash payment on the territory of Russia and must be accepted at face value in all types of payments without any restrictions.
