Russian Championship in Greco-Roman Wrestling Takes Place in Novosibirsk

The Russian Greco-Roman wrestling championship is held in the Novosibirsk Expocenter. The first fights took place on January 17, 2020. This is the preliminary stage of preparation for the upcoming Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Athletes from 50 regions of Russia participate in fights. Fourteen sportsmen are fighting for a ticket to the Olympic Games from the Novosibirsk Region.

The Olympic Committee decided not to break the famous athletes from the standard training process and thus give young talents a chance to get to the Olympics.

According to VN.RU, greco-Roman wrestling for Novosibirsk residents is not just a tradition associated with the names of Olympic champions raised up in Novosibirsk gyms, but a philosophy of sports life of the region.
