The salary of convicts in Russia in 2020 increased by more than 11 per cent, TASS reports with reference to the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service Alexander Kalashnikov.
According to Kalashnikov, the proportion of those sentenced to imprisonment who were involved in paid work increased by 10 per cent last year. At the same time, the volume of products manufactured, work performed and services rendered increased by 12 per cent, to 36.3 billion rubles. It is specified that the net profit for 2020 increased by 40 per cent and amounted to 3.3 billion rubles.
Kalashnikov also noted that in 2020, 728 educational institutions and their structural units functioned in the system, in which more than 132 thousand people were trained in 167 professions. In addition, measures were taken to compensate the victims’ claims. According to the director, in 2020, the amount of compensation increased by 14 per cent, including due to the priority employment of convicts with claims.
