The Russian crew of the International Space Station (ISS) will prepare a herring under a fur coat for the New Year’s table, according to the cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov.
“We even have black caviar, tangerines, we are going to make with Pyotr ourselves a herring under a fur coat,” Shkaplerov shared their plans for the festive dinner.
He also noted that Russian cosmonauts invited colleagues from NASA and the European Space Agency to celebrate the New Year.
“I think we will traditionally celebrate as many times as the countries whose representatives are at the station, we will cross. Let’s start with Moscow time, then European time, and then American time,” Shkaplerov added.
Cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov also noted that despite the widespread stereotype put on American astronauts, apple cider does not contain alcohol, so the holiday will be completely non-alcoholic.
