“On October 19, 2021, Russian airspace controls over the neutral waters of the Black Sea detected air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. In order to identify air targets and prevent violations of the state border of the Russian Federation, two Su-30 fighters from the naval aviation and air defence forces of the Black Sea Fleet on duty were lifted into the air,” the Russian Ministry commented.

As specified, the crews of Russian fighter jets identified air targets as two supersonic strategic bombers B-1B of the US Air Force accompanied by two KC-135 tanker aircraft and escorted them over the Black Sea. After the reversal of foreign military aircraft from the Russian state border, the country’s fighters safely returned to the home airfield.
