The film “Dear comrades!” directed by Andrey Konchalovsky was included in the list of 93 films, nominated for Oscar in the ‘International Feature Film’ category, RBC reports with reference to the award official website.
It is specified that out of 93 films, 15 films will be shortlisted. Their names will be announced on February 9, 2021. It is noted that Konchalovsky’s film has already become known in the West and has a chance of winning. The plot is based on real events that took place in 1962 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region, when workers of the local Electric Locomotive Plant went on strike, demanding higher wages and lower prices for food.
The main role is played by Russian actress and TV presenter Julia Vysotskaya. Film critic, film expert, teacher of the Moscow School of New Cinema, Maxim Semyonov, does not yet know how to assess Konchalovsky’s possibility of winning, but he believes that there is a chance, because the director has repeatedly become a laureate of the Venice Film Festival.
